Want to travel somewhere, but not on the prescribed date and time? We understand that it hurts making all the plans and changing them at the last minute. You won’t have many options to deal with unforeseen events. However, if you want to transfer airline ticket to another person, this piece is for you. In this case, you have two options:- You can either modify the reservations or you can cancel the ticket. You can incur charges if you change or cancel your flight plans. The cost of changing or canceling a flight varies depending on the airline.

Additionally, it depends on the kind of tickets you bought. To find out whether you can transfer a flight ticket to another person, however, or if you wish someone else to travel on your ticket, you must first contact the airline to know about their ticket transfer policy. There is a high probability that you need to pay a cancellation fee for that. Later, you will get a refund for the ticket which gets wasted. It really depends a lot on the airlines and their rules and regulations.

Airlines guilines for transfering tickets

Airlines’ Guidelines for Transfering Tickets

Here are some popular airlines and their protocols when it comes to transferring airline tickets.

  • American Airlines: American Airlines, the largest airline in the United States, prohibits ticket transfers between passengers. However, the majority of passengers will be able to transfer their tickets to another flight before their original flight departs. Your transferred ticket may be subject to restrictions and fees based on a number of factors, such as the ticket type—first class, business class, or economy class. A fee will be charged upon you transfer airline ticket to another person on American airlines.
  • Delta Airlines: Delta, the second-largest airline in the United States, prohibits ticket transfers between passengers. However, there are some circumstances in which you may be eligible to receive a refund for the unused ticket. The majority of tickets purchased directly through Delta can be refunded. You have one day after purchasing a qualifying eTicket to cancel it for any reason and receive a full refund—including any prepaid fees and Direct Ticketing Charges—without incurring a cancellation fee. The ticket change fees charged by Delta Airlines range from $200 for fares within the 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands to a maximum of $500 for the return portion of an international itinerary.
  • Southwest Airlines: Southwest, the third-largest airline in the United States, has a change and cancellation policy that makes it easy for passengers. You can change or cancel your reservation without incurring a ticket change fee within 24 hours of making it, despite the fact that the airline does not permit ticket transfers. Alternatively, you can cancel your reservation at any time before your flight and receive a full fare credit that can be used for future travel within a year of the original reservation. According to their website, “If you need to change an upcoming flight itinerary, you’ll only pay the cost in the fare difference and will never incur separate change fee,” Southwest Airlines does not charge a ticket change fee. We do not charge you for altering your plans or minding your own business.
  • United Airlines: Can you transfer an airline ticket to someone else in United Airlines? This question is common among travelers of United Airlines which is the fourth-largest airline in the United States and prohibits ticket transfers between passengers. If your ticket was purchased through United within the last 24 hours and you completed your purchase at least one week prior to the initially scheduled departure flight, it may be eligible for a waiver of change or cancellation fees. Tickets in Basic Economy cannot be changed, but you can get a full refund within 24 hours of booking them as long as you finished the purchase at least a week before the originally scheduled departure flight.
