Major Flight Disruptions Across India Amid Rising Indo-Pak Tensions

Due to rising tensions between India and Pakistan, air travel across northern India is facing serious disruptions. Following a deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22, which killed 26 civilians, the Indian Government has launched a military operation called Operation Sindoor. This action has led to temporary airspace restrictions and the closure of several airports in India’s northern regions.

To ensure the safety of passengers and avoid risks near the conflict zone, airlines such as Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Qatar Airways have either canceled or rerouted flights. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also advised restrictions at several key airports.

  • Arrive at least 3 hours before departure.
  • Cooperate with intensified baggage checks and security screenings.
  • Avoid planning any travel through northern India if not essential.

How Long Will This Last?

There is no official date for the resumption of flights. However, according to officials from the Ministry of Civil Aviation, disruptions may continue for the next 48–72 hours, depending on military activity and airspace clearance.
